"Second-Quality" Markdown for the Kula™ Wide-Brim Hat

Demand for the Kula throughout Australia and the US has been strong since the hat's release in the fall of 2004. Although the Kula's success is exciting for us, it has been brought to our attention that, depending on the content of our customers' water source (primarily in water with a high salt content), some of the hat's metal parts may tarnish following activation, causing a slight discoloration immediately around the brass snaps. In some cases, the stain is easily removed during the washing process.

We have tracked the source of this problem to a change of hardware supplier after production began and are in the process of manufacturing the Kula hat again to ensure that, regardless of water source, the quality of the product will not be compromised.

Aside from the slight discoloration, each Kula hat provides ultimate cooling performance with style and comfort. Our design incorporates features for enhanced cooling ability such as the dual layer of cooling fabric around the brim to provide a superior cooling effect around the face and neck while extending the length of cooling time. The Kula also boasts an "Excellent" 50+ UPF, blocking 98% of the sun's harmful UV rays. Other features like the attachable neck cover snaps on securely for added sun protection and cooling for the back of the neck.

Because our new Kula hats are not yet available, we will continue to sell the Kula hats we have as seconds to meet the continuing demand for the Kula. We have reduced the price with the understanding that the discoloration is a possibility dependent upon the water content used for activation.

On "seconds items," we will exchange for size when available; otherwise, we are unable to accept returns or offer refunds for this item.
